1. Download the 2nd gen 3.0 ispw file
2. load up itunes.
3. plug in your ipod touch.
4. it will show up in your itunes. now on the main screen for it, there will be 2 options: “check for update” and “restore”
5. hold your shift key and left click “update”
6. double click the 3.0 file you downloaded.
7. let it run its course like normal.

you won’t have lost any files because it will treat it as an update and not a restore, and you will have a functioning 3.0 update.
